I've seen the book she authors, and can fully appreciate the wealth of knowledge she has published for others....I first came across Lisa through her own blog, and find her to be an excellent communicator. Very friendly too. David Airey
design author and brand identity designer As an active (and successful) web designer using WordPress, she's in code almost every day and I've leaned on her knowledge and asked her input and feedback many, many times for our own WP projects. Cory Miller
Owner, Founder: iThemes.com I’ve seen some parts of this book already (the full thing is winging it’s way from the US as I write this) and it is a great read and well worthwhile the purchase for those starting out with and wanting to extend their knowledge of a blog platform that more ProBlogger readers use than any other. Darren Rowse
ProBlogger.com Ms Sabin-Wilson's book was the best of the lot, being at that time the only book on the market addressing the new features in WordPress Version 3.0. I used her code to structure new templates for a couple of the static pages. The book is a good introduction to neophytes and experienced web developers.

Amazon Review Lisa is one of my favorite "For Dummies" authors. She wrote a book that I was personally in need of, and that filled a huge void in the marketplace. She's easy to work with, has great ideas, and is always willing to try something new. Ellen Gerstein
Director of Marketing, John Wiley and Sons ...Sabin-Wilson is, in my opinion, one of the best technical writers around. Her language is clear, uncluttered and free of artifice. Jerry Saperstein

I get the impression that one of the main reasons people in the US vote for repiblicans is to pay less tax. Personally I’d be happy to pay more tax if the money was being used for good causes (healthcare for example, which is free in the UK)
Tim, how much of a percentage of your hard earned income would you be willing to pay? 50%? 60%? 70%? More?
How much of a percentage do you currently pay in the UK?
Here – it’s about 33% – - so I’m able to keep roughly 67% of my earned income.
Or thereabouts.
33% sounds like a lot, but I’d guess that we pay more in the UK. It’s difficult to know how much tax people pay here though as income tax is in “bands” depending on how much you earn (you get a certain amount tax free, then the next £x p.a. you pay x% on, then if you earn over another limit you pay a greater amount on that amount etc.) – but we also have VAT (value added tax, where tax is added to pretty much everything you buy).
I’d like to have a better idea what this govermnent income is being spent on though.
Your VAT is equal to our Sales Tax, which is over an above income tax. Sales Tax here varies from state to state. In my state – we pay 5.6% tax on everything we buy.
We also pay extra tax on cars.
There is the death tax.
The estate tax.
Dont’ forget State taxes on TOP of federal taxes.
I’m sure there must be some publication, somewhere, that itemizes out exactly what percentage of my tax dollars are going where? That would be a report I would love to recieve in every paycheck.
VAT in the UK is 17.5%! It’s not on everything though (food for example).
We pay a fortune for petrol (gas that is) and tobacco and alcohol are heavily taxed.
I expect the details of what goes where are available somewhere, but most people wouldn’t have a clue where to look.
17.5%?
Spanking kids, aside – I’m re-thinking my move! lol
The reason we’re left with shitty social services is because the damn Republicans keep spending the money on their pork projects or just fucking giving it to Halliburton. Take a look at thisand you’ll know what the US has high taxes. It’s fucking insane!

and here I thought that the shitty social services and lack of funding for such services had more to do with the ongoing and blantant abuse of the system at the hands of some of the recipients.
