I hope I did not cause my brother to be upset. I think he is the best parent ever so is my sister-n-law when I written the last post I was under doctors care. I do not want to seem selfish because I am not and I love children.I am helping my parents take care of children now. I love it.

damn, your description of parenting made me say, "yada, yada, yada" been there done that, but then your explanation of to your kids about them not being a mistake took my breath away and i will quote you on that. i have the best life imaginable from the outside in, but boy and i tired and unmotivated to keep up the gig. i really wished i had valued myself more and understood that i'm relatively narcissitic and selfish and would have just like to spend my life with myself and a few choosen close others. my therapist tells me i'll be glad when i'm older that i have them: i say to what look at them or to remember how miserable i was most of the time? god bless. paula

Do your brother, and most importantly his children, the favor of just saying no. There's no greater gift that you can give those kids than to force their parent(s) to live up to their responsibility and actually BE parents.

I have a question what do you call parents who leave their children to raise half the day or even 24 hours a day with someone else while the parents goes off to the casino or plays softball? it happens to us me my mom father and brother all the time. My older brother does not want the resposiblity to take care of his kids so he lets us babysit while they do something else. to do Something not that important. I am already tired of it but since it is my brother I feel sympathetic sometimes. I love children but feel I cannot tolerate too many kids around . there are two. Oh yes we babysit my other brothers child too. He has one.what do you suggest?

Yep, there's plenty of tough times, but the good far outweighs the bad. For all the bad things they do, it's amazing how a simple "I love you Daddy" (or Mommy) can make all be almost forgotten.

Oh, and you live in Wisconsin! It's not like they have radio stations that don't play country and polka! :x

On raising children … and parents

For some reason, the past few weeks I’ve been having trouble sleeping at night for various reasons: too much on my mind, a persistent cough, etc.

The chicken sits on my bedroom dresser - my kids look at it and say.. "Mom...that's sooooo mean!" - - I tell them that someday, they'll relate -- and that sometimes, being pecked to death by a chicken isn't as negative as it may sound. lol

Thanks for stopping by, Rose - and for leaving your thoughts. :)
