Historical Day

As recognized in U.N. Security Council resolution 1546, the Coalition Provisional Authority will cease to exist on June 28th, at which point the occupation will end and the Iraqi interim government will assume and exercise full sovereign authority on behalf of the Iraqi people. I welcome Iraq’s steps to take its rightful place of equality and honor among the free nations of the world.

Sincerely,
L. Paul Bremer, ex-administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority

You just know the question is going to be, “Where were you the day the U.S. transfered sovereignty to Iraq?” I was sleeping – I normally would have stayed up to watch the news come in on this one….but the U.S. and Iraq did this transfer of power two days early.

At the time of their choosing.

  1. I would have liked to see it live, but I too was sleeping. I think it’s fabulous news, and thanks for sharing Bremer’s letter. Short and sweet, nicely done.

The left is already accusing the US of cut-n-run. :/

  2. Michael – why am I not surprised?

  3. At last… an advantage to living in Australia.

Not only did I get to see it live, I also got to see it in repeats that were only minutes old.

    I was already nostalgic.
